Villa Maydou is located in front of Vat Meuna, near the Nam Khan river old bridge in the historical center of Luang Prabang former royal capital of Laos. Luang Prabang is under UNESCO World Heritage status.

Villa Maydou with two wonderful Lao traditional houses registered by UNESCO World Heritage program is located inside a large tropical garden. Those two houses have been restored under the authority of "La Maison du Patrimoine" UNESCO program to preserve the traditional architecture of Luang Prabang.

Villa Maydou with a warm hospitality makes it possible to discover natural, architectural, historical and social environment of Luang Prabang.

Luang Prabang former Royal capital benefits from an alluring natural sitting in a mountain encircled peninsula, at the confluence of the Nam Khan and Mekong Rivers. The Phousi hill is dominating the town skyline from the center.

According to the legend, two hermits first elected the place to build a town as they found that the Phousi hill was shaped like
a rice heap, topped by a beautiful flame tree.

The first Lao kingdom, the Lan Xang, million elephants, was consolidated here in 1353 by Fa Ngum. The city became known as Luang Prabang "Great Pha Bang", when Fa Ngum accepted the Pha Ban, a gold Boudha image, a gift from the Khmer Monarchy.

The fusion of the Lao traditional and French colonial architectures, the historic temples, the splendid Royal Palace remarkably restored create an enchanting charm, a relaxed rhythm of life rare in South East Asia.

Since 1995, the city ascension to UNESCO World Heritage status, Luang Prabang benefits remarkable efforts of restoration and of improvement from the Lao Government, the Provincial authorities, the local community and international organizations.
